We Played BitStarz With Real Crypto — No Sponsors, Just the Truth
Established way back in 2014, BitStarz is one of the oldest online crypto casinos, and probably the first to seriously challenge the big traditional casino sites. Today, it is one of the world’s most popular online gambling sites, offering a huge choice of games and plenty of eye-catching bonuses and promotions.
In this original CoinBets review, I’ll be taking BitStarz for a spin (with real crypto), checking out the slots and other games, including the exclusives and provably fair selections. I’ll also investigate payment options, player support, and much more. Finally, I’ll use real-world data to find out what players really think of this crypto casino.
So, buckle up, here we go…
License and Security
Before we get to the good stuff, it’s important to establish the credentials of the casino.
Bitstarz is operated by Dama N.V, a company incorporated in Curaçao (company no. 152125), and has a Curaçao Gaming Control Board license (no. OGL/2023/174/0082). The license was granted on 23/08/2024 and was active at the time of writing.
The site connection is secure and the security certificate is valid
Welcome Bonus
In typical big crypto casino style, BitStarz offers what seems, at first glance at least, to be an extremely generous sign-up bonus for new players. Specifically, it’s €500 or 5 BTC + 180 Free Spins. Now, at the time of writing, 5 BTC was worth around €325,000 – quite a sum!
Specifically, the BitStarzs Welcome Package breaks down as follows:
1st Deposit – 100% up to €100 or 1 BTC + 180 Free Spins (20 instant free spins + 160 credited in batches of 20 per day). Minimum deposit of €20 EUR to get the free spins.
2nd Deposit – 50% up to €100 or 1 BTC
3rd Deposit – 50% up to €200 or 2 BTC
4th Deposit – 100% up to €100 or 1BTC
Of course, the BitStarz welcome offer is designed to get players to deposit in crypto, which makes sense for a crypto casino. But, that’s quite a disparity between fiat and crypto, so this deal needs unpacking. Indeed, 5 BTC seems like a ridiculously high amount. Is it even realistically possible to get such a high-value bonus?
BitStarz Welcome Bonus Dissected
So, to get the 5 BTC bonus, you’ll have to deposit 8 BTC, which at the time of writing would be €520,000 (EUR) worth of Bitcoin. From this point on, it should be obvious that virtually no one is ever going to get a bonus worth anywhere close to 5 BTC from this offer.
And, we haven’t even looked at the wagering requirements yet. Disappointingly, these aren’t even mentioned in any of the initial promotional material – you have to open the Bonus Terms & Conditions to find them. It turns out that the “Wagering Requirements for Free and Registration bonuses are forty (40) times the Bonus sum awarded to you”. And, importantly, each part of the bonus is only valid for 7 days – so you’ll need to be quick.
Additionally, to qualify for the free spins element of the BitStarz welcome package, you’ll need to wager your deposit 1x within 24 hours of making it. Plus, any winnings from those free spins will also be subject to a 40x wagering requirement. Free Spins must also be used within 1 day of them being credited or they will expire.
Another important thing to consider is game weighting when it comes to wagering requirements contributions. Specifically, slots (except for those listed in point 3.6 of the Bonus Terms & Conditions) contribute 100%, while table games, video poker games, Jogo do Bicho, live games, and BitStarz Originals (excluding the slot game) only contribute 5%.
BitStarz Welcome Bonus Verdict
In fairness, 40x wagering requirements aren’t anything out of the ordinary, but in this case, it renders the potential 5 BTC bonus absurd. Even if you were a rich crypto bro who managed to deposit enough to get the full 5 BTC bonus from the BitStarz welcome package, you’d still need to wager €13 million worth of Bitcoin (based on the prices at the time of writing) to meet requirements!
Of course, given Bitcoin’s volatility, these figures could change significantly, very quickly, either up or down. But, you get the point. BitStarz’s welcome package is, technically speaking, real, but it may as well not be. In fact, it’s all a bit silly. Yep. That’s pretty much my verdict. It’s one of those crypto casino bonuses that seems huge but isn’t even remotely realistic.
However, once you’ve figured this out, it’s still possible to use the welcome offer to your advantage. Just make sure you do the maths first and deposit a rational amount that will enable you to meet the wagering requirements.

Opening a New Account
Getting up and running at BitStarz is very easy. There are three ways to get started:
- Click ‘Sign Up’, choose a username and set a strong password, agree with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, enter a bonus code if you have one, and click ‘Sign Up’
- Log in using your Google account
- Connect your MetaMask wallet

Payments
Unlike some pure crypto casinos, such as Shuffle, BitStarz supports a range of cryptocurrencies and fiat payment methods.

Crypto Deposits & Withdrawals:

To deposit using crypto, just select “Deposit” (the green tab at the top right of the screen). Then select a cryptocurrency and enter how much you’d like to transfer. Then click the “Play with XXX” tab. You’ll then be provided with a Private Deposit Address (as both a QR code and a regular address). Send the crypto from your wallet to this address, then click the green tab to confirm you’ve made the transfer.

Withdrawing is just as simple. Open your balance, select “Withdraw”, select your crypto and enter how much you’d like to withdraw. Paste in your destination wallet address (make sure the address you’re withdrawing to supports the specific crypto you’re using). The withdrawal fee will be displayed before you confirm the transaction.
CoinBets.com Tip: Always double-check crypto wallet addresses after pasting them – you don’t want to fall victim to ‘PasteJacking’. This is when hackers exploit the copy-paste function to change wallet addresses to steal funds.
Fiat Deposits & Withdrawals
- AUD
- CAD
- EUR
- JPY
- NOK
- NZD
- PLN
- RUB
- USD
Fiat payment methods:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Maestro
- Skrill
- Neteller
- Paysafecard
- Zimpler
- Much Better
- MiFinity
To make a fiat deposit, select the green “Deposit” tab, then enter your deposit amount. Click “Play with XXX” tab. Next, choose your payment method, then provide the requested details, check the processing time and fee, and click “Confirm.”

Withdrawing fiat funds is just as easy. Select “Withdraw”, enter the amount, choose your payment method, and enter any requested information, before confirming. Again, the processing time and any fees will be stated.
Game Selection
At the time of writing BitStarz offered over 6,000 casino games from almost 70 game studios – which puts it in the top-tier of crypto casinos in terms of sheer choice.

In common with virtually all crypto casinos, most of the games available at BitStarz are slots of various themes and types. As you’d expect, you’ll find online slots from all the big-name providers like NetEnt, Relax Gaming, NoLimit City, and Novomatic. So, whether you’re in the mood for edgy games like Skate or Die and Punk Rocker, hits like Gonzo’s Quest and Starburst, or all-time classics like Book of Ra and Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe, BitStarz has you covered.

With so many slot games on offer, browsing them effectively requires filters. By default, your homepage will only have a few different game categories displayed, so you’ll probably want to customize things a little. And, while this is easy enough, I can imagine many players probably overlook it. So, click the “Settings” cog icon to the right of the “Game Studios” tab. This will now let you add categories like Megaways, Buy Bonus Games, “Book of” Games, etc.
Speaking of Megways, there are lots available, but also some non-Megaways slots seem to be miscategorized. Still, if you love your paylines, you’re not likely to get bored here. Titles available include 1 Million Megaways BC, Rainbow Jackpots Megaways, Fire Works Megaways, Rasputin Megaways, and dozens more.
One category where BitStarz does disappoint a little is jackpot slots. There is a jackpot category with a few dozen jackpot games, like DaVinci Diamonds Jackpot, Sirens Cove Jackpot, and Rocket Chimp Jackpot, but you won’t find anything in the league of the record-breaking Mega Moolah series.
bitStarz Billion (BGaming)
Sometimes you just want to keep things simple and spin on an old-school fruit machine – and the exclusive bitStarz Billion, from BGaming, is just that. Or at least is stylistically, because it does feature stacked symbols, expanding wilds, and a gamble round. After playing for a while, I hit a few wins, and I can imagine this is probably good as one of those ‘go-to’ chill-out games when you just want to escape from the complexities of modern life.

BitStarz offers around 100 live dealer games, which puts it ahead of rivals like Shuffle, but considerably behind the likes of Gamdom (which has more than 500 live titles available). Surprisingly, all the live games are from one provider – but, that provider is Evolution, which is widely regarded as the industry leader. Several varieties of blackjack, roulette, baccarat, craps, sic bo, and poker are available, including VIP European Roulette, Lightning Roulette, Speed Baccarat, Speed Blackjack, Three Card Poker, and Caribbean Stud Poker.
A modest selection of eleven live game shows are also available to play – which can be accessed via their own dedicated category and the live casino section. Titles include Stock Market Live, Cash or Crash Live, Crazy Time, and Dream Catcher.

Crazy Time (Evolution)
I picked Crazy Time solely on the basis it was the most popular live game at BitStarz. Now, I’ve played this game show before, and understand why. The colors, the spinning wheel, and the urgency of placing your bets in the short window between rounds. Unfortunately, this time, despite willing positive thoughts at the lovely hostess, I had pretty much no luck at all. Still, Crazy Time is the kind of game that’s equally suited to casual play with low bets over a long period, or short sharp edge-of-your-seat crazy sessions.
With just over 40 options available, the BitStarz table games and video poker selection isn’t the biggest, but it will be more than enough for most players. You’ll find the usual variety of blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker. Again though, the categorization seems a little bit messy here – with a few live table games appearing in this category, but not the live casino category (for example, games live from the Hippodrome Casino and Casino Malta).

There’s no bingo category at BitStarz, and a search turned up just two games; Wild Bingo and Just A Bingo!
As one of the oldest online crypto casinos, I was expecting the provably fair game selection at BitStarz to be pretty good, and I was right. Whereas most crypto casinos will have a handful of provably fair games, there are over 40 on offer here – 8 BitStarz Originals, 10 from Evoplay, and 24 from BGaming.
The BitStarz Originals games are similar to the in-house ranges from most crypto casinos, with titles like Plinko, Mines, Dice, Black Jack, Slot, Crash, and Wheel. However, the blockchain-based games from BGaming and Evoplay, like Book of Pyramids, Fantasy Park, West Town, Penalty Shoot-Out, and Red Queen do add some much-appreciated variety.

Crash
I always like to play a casino’s in-house crash game – it provides a good benchmark. After all, crash games are all very similar in terms of mechanics – bet, hold your nerve, and cash out before the crash. So, what makes them special? Well, that ‘feel’. Small graphical details and animations. So, the animated rocket is nice, but it’s nothing special and soon got boring. In the end, I had to quit when I’d bailed at around 5x multiplier and the damn rocket went on to reach 92.95x.
Aztec Magic Deluxe (BGaming)
A provably fair crypto slot from the studio responsible for “treasures” like the Elvis Frog series, Aztec Magic Deluxe looks like your standard Mesoamerican-themed slot at first. Visually, it’s a typical BGaming product – crisp graphics with nice touches like animated flaming torches.
After my previous wins on King of bitStarz, I’d got a bit extra on the bankroll so decided to start wagering $5 per spin – and it seemed to pay off. After just a few spins I’d landed a few Aztec Warrior Wilds on paylines, tripling wins, and then got 10 free spins courtesy of 3 Indian priestesses. My red or black gambling round didn’t work out so well though. Still, a pretty enjoyable provably fair slot from BGaming.
Unusually for a large crypto gambling site, BitStarz doesn’t currently offer sports betting.
It seems like the team at BitStarz likes to make things overly complicated wherever possible, and this is certainly true when it comes to promotions. Of course, I’ve already explained the convoluted welcome package, but let’s take a look at some of the regular promotions.
Jackpotz Mania – Your chance to win one of the three BitStarz Jackpots (Mega, Minor, JPM Race). It involves logging in every day and trying to hit certain win targets on specified games. To say this is overly complicated is a major understatement, and to explain it all would make this review about six times longer… instead, I’ll just show you some screenshots and you can judge for yourself. My gut feeling is that this is overly complicated quite deliberately, so that people are driven to spend more without really knowing what’s going on.

Level Up Adventure – A seasonal promotion (at the time of writing, Halloween) with very nice graphics giving away $50K in individual prizes, including a $20K cash prize. It’s a blatant spend-to-progress promo – you’ll advance through the 41 levels as you wager more at the casino.
Slot Wars – A simple slot tournament giving away €5,000 plus 5,000 Free Spins each week. The first prize is €1,500 cash.
Table Wars – Another simple tournament, but this time for table games, with a €10,000 weekly prize pool.
Billed as “The Most Exclusive VIP Program Ever”, the VIP Starz Club offers all kinds of great benefits:
- Bigger and better bonuses
- Dedicated account manager
- Unrestricted fast cashouts
- Customized bonus plan
- Early access to new games
However, while that all sounds lovely, there’s no information regarding how you can qualify for it. I guess it’s one of those hush-hush invite-only-type things.

As to be expected, BitStarz offers real-time player support via live chat – I was put in touch with a “Support Hero” named Dave. There’s always a Dave. Everything seemed okay, though it took a while before I was convinced it was a person and not a bot I was chatting with.
One thing I’ve got to point out is after a chat it suggests sending crypto to tip the support staff. Erm… am I missing something here? I’m pretty sure this is doing more damage than good to BitStarz. Since when have support staff expected tips? And, if they need them, it strongly hints that BitStarz isn’t paying their team enough.
Anyway, if you want to avoid getting wound up by the cheeky tip thing, you can reach out to the team via Telegram or email them directly at: support [at] bitstarz [dot] com.

When it comes to design, BitStarz looks the same as a bunch of other crypto casinos, like Stake.com and BC.Game. There’s nothing creative or original about it, but it looks nice enough. Navigation seemed okay at first, but after a while, I got quite frustrated with it. Certain categories and filters are hard to find, games are miscategorized, and most annoying of all, terms and conditions are seemingly hidden – or at least, nowhere near as prominent as they should be.
In addition to English, BitStarz is also available in the following languages:
- Russian
- Chinese
- Japanese
- Portuguese (Brazilian)
Unfortunately, there are no BitStarz mobile apps available for either Android or iOS devices. In fairness, this isn’t a shock, as neither Google Play nor the App Store allow crypto casino apps. However, you can still enjoy BitStarz on your smartphone because it has been optimized to run smoothly on all popular mobile browsers.

Over the years, BitStarz has won plenty of industry awards. Of course, the real value of business-to-business awards is questionable (you know, you pay for the best tables at an award ceremony, and you’ll magically win an award), but still. Here are some of them:
- Best Casino, 2023 – LCB Awards
- Best Casino of 2023 – AskGamblers
- Best Support 2022 – Casinomeister
- Best Crypto Casino – Casino Wow
- Best Casino, 2022 – LCB Awards
- Best Casino of 2021 – Casinomeister
- Player’s Choice of 2018 – AskGamblers
- Best Casino of 2017 – AskGamblers

Right, so I’ve shared some of my thoughts about BitStarz, but what do other players think? The boffins here at CoinBets.com have collected a whole bunch of reviews from around the web, so we can find out. But, before we do, I must stress the importance of keeping a few things in mind:
- Lots of crypto casino reviews are written by affiliates with a vested interest in getting you to sign up and deposit.
- When it comes to online casinos, you’re always going to get sore losers who’ve gambled more than they can afford. Their reviews tend to lack objectivity.
- It’s not unknown for some dodgy casino operators to post negative reviews for the sole purpose of discrediting their competitors.
- There are loads of people who just like complaining!
In total, we looked at 3,401 online reviews of BitStarz, and here’s how they broke down:
Subject | Details | No. of Mentions |
---|---|---|
Slow Withdrawals | 87 people mentioned having to wait longer than expected for withdrawals to be processed. Typical examples include:
Unfortunately, this is a common complaint at most online casinos, crypto or fiat. Most of the time it’s caused by two things: not enough staff in the payment department, and delays caused by inefficient verification processes. | 13.5% |
Verification Problems | 75 people mentioned issues regarding account verification. Examples include:
Again, this is a common problem with most online casinos, regardless of whether they are crypto or fiat, or where they are licensed. In fact, it can be a particular problem at casinos licensed by the strictest regulators like the UKGC and MGA. In the case of BitStarz, it is most likely due to an overly complicated, poorly explained and communicated verification process, and again, a lack of enough staff. | 11.6% |
Poor Customer Service | 62 people cited poor player support in their reviews. Illustrative examples include:
Unfortunately, this is a common complaint at most online casinos, crypto or fiat. Most of the time it’s caused by two things: not enough staff in the payment department, and delays caused by inefficient verification processes. | 9.6% |
Frozen/Blocked Accounts | 53 reviews mentioned accounts being blocked unexpectedly. For example:
Once more, this is a very common issue at online casinos across the board. Usually, it’s because automated fraud prevention protocols have been triggered. Again, it sounds like BitStarz needs to increase staffing levels to resolve problems like this more quickly. | 8.2% |
Scam Allegations | 48 players accused BitStarz of scam-like or suspicious behaviour, including disappearing balances, sudden game losses, and suspected rigged results. Typical complaints include:
The nature of gambling means this kind of complaint will always be levelled at casinos, online or land-based. They usually stem from people not reading the terms and conditions of promotional offers (which, granted, BitStarz does need to make more accessible and clearer), or a lack of understanding about things like RTP and House Edge. I recommend checking out CoinBet’s Understanding RTP in Crypto Casinos: How It Affects Your Chance of Winning. | 7.4% |
Subject | Details | No. of Mentions |
---|---|---|
Fast Payouts |
110 users referenced fast withdrawals, with funds often received within minutes. Typical comments include:
This should be expected, especially when using cryptocurrencies, and it’s good to see the BitStarz cashout system can work efficiently. | 4.0% |
User-Friendly Interface |
95 people commented on BitStarz’s user experience in a positive manner, saying things like:
This makes sense, as I’ve commented in this review, on the whole, most things are easy to find and designed logically. However, the percentage mentioning it is quite low, suggesting BitStarz could make improvements. | 3.4% |
Attractive Bonuses | 82 reviewers mentioned the generous bonuses and promotions offered by BitStarz. Typical comments included:
Okay, I admit, here my ‘spidey sense’ tells me something isn’t right. Given how high-profile and ‘in your face’ the bonus offers are – and how they are usually a major attraction at any crypto casino, they are mentioned remarkably infrequently. I suspect this is because most people have reached the same conclusion as myself – they are far too complicated and things like the “5 BTC” bonus with 40x wagering are, for all intents and purposes, impossible to get. | 3.0% |
Good Game Variety | 77 players commented positively on the choice of games available at BitStarz. For example, saying:
This is logical – BitStarz does have a wide variety of casino games to choose from, including plenty of exclusives and provably fair games. However, the low percentage of reviewers mentioning it does suggest the offering doesn’t exactly stand out much compared to other major crypto casinos. | 2.8% |
Reliable Support | 68 people complimented the level of customer service they received at BitStarz, saying things like:
This shows that when BitStarz does have enough staff on duty, players are happy with the service. This is a trend we see time and again at rapidly expanding crypto casinos – the staff are great, but there’s just often not enough of them. | 2.5% |

BitStarz
BitStarz offers a solid crypto casino experience with great games and originals, but its promotions lack clarity. It’s fun and rewarding if you stay sharp and read the fine print.

Verdict
Personally, I like BitStarz on many levels. The choice of games is fantastic, with all the big-name providers represented, but also plenty of smaller studios like Prospect Gaming, AdLunam, Clawbuster and Slotopia – which adds lots of depth and gives you plenty to explore. The choice of provably fair games, BitStarz originals and exclusives is also impressive. And, while it’s not exactly pushing the bounds of creativity, the design of the site itself is perfectly acceptable.
But, there’s a but. And, it’s a big but (I know you’re singing a certain song in your head now); the promotional offers are a bit, well “iffy”. Sure, they look good at first glance, but the welcome bonus is ridiculous – literally, the “5 BTC” thing is just there to dazzle people – it’s entirely unrealistic. And, even more annoyingly, the terms and conditions aren’t displayed prominently. Considering how much experience BitStarz has under its belt, it’s hard to believe this isn’t deliberate. Additionally, most of the regular promos take the form of tournaments designed to pressure players into wagering as much as possible. Not cool.
Taking a step back and looking at the overall picture painted by user feedback, it seems the prevailing view among players is quite similar to my own. BitStarz is fundamentally a solid crypto casino offering a good range of games, but needs to make its bonuses and offers more transparent – and possibly hire some more support staff and streamline verification procedures.
So, the bottom line is, that BitStarz has a great product in terms of games, but you should approach all bonuses, promotions, and tournaments with an abundance of caution. Don’t expect terms and conditions to be laid out in front of you, and don’t expect them to be particularly clearly written. Always look for that little ‘i’ button and click on it for more info. In common with some other crypto casinos, like BC.Game and Stake, BitStarz can be plenty of fun and very rewarding, but only if you keep your wits about you. Keep things in perspective, stick to your budget, and don’t go chasing the ridiculously big bonuses if you’re not going to be able to easily afford to meet wagering.
As always, I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my take on BitStarz, and if you’d like to help make the world of online crypto gambling a better place, please consider sharing your thoughts with us here at CoinBets.
