Stake Crypto Casino Review + Welcome Bonus 2025
Stake

30 Hours Real Testing

Crypto casino king Stake — but does it still hold the crown?

If there’s a crypto casino that needs no introduction, it’s Stake. Originally launched back in 2017, Stake has grown into the world’s biggest crypto gambling platform – becoming a household name thanks to partnerships with the likes of Drake and the UFC. Today, the platform offers thousands of slots, live games, provably fair originals, and sports and esports betting.

But with the new Curaçao regulations hitting during 2025, Stake is now off the menu for players in many markets. In this original CoinBets review, I’ll be betting real crypto, checking out what bonuses and payment options are available, delving into features and, of course, examining what the new licensing rules mean for players.

So, is Stake set to remain the king of crypto casinos, or are its days numbered? Let’s find out.

License and Security

image description

Stake is owned and operated by Medium Rare N.V., which is based in Curaçao (reg. no. 145353). It is licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) with licence number OGL/2024/1451/0918).

The site connection is secure and the security certificate is valid

Welcome Bonus

At the time of writing this Stake casino review, there was no standard welcome bonus available for new players.

Opening a New Account

Getting started at Stake is quick and easy, with multiple sign-up options available:

Enter your email address, choose a username and set a strong password. Enter your date of birth and click “Continue.” Follow the prompts and you’ll be up and running in seconds.

Important: To comply with Curacao’s new regulatory requirements, Stake now requires account verification before you can play for real money and/or make a withdrawal. Using a VPN to play from prohibited countries or regions (which include the US, UK, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany and many more) won’t help you – you’ll still hit a wall when it comes to withdrawing.

Payments

Stake supports a good range of cryptocurrencies, including mainstream cryptos and a few memecoins.

Crypto Deposits & Withdrawals:

Binance Coin (BNB)

To make a crypto deposit, open your Wallet, select “Deposit”, then choose your desired currency and network (if applicable). You’ll be provided with a unique deposit address in both text and QR Code formats.

Alternatively you can deposit directly from one of more than 300 Web3 wallets and DEXs, including Binance Wallet, CoinBase, MetaMask, Exodus, Uniswap, Ledger, and 1inch.

Note that, like many other crypto casinos, Stake does offer a crypto vault for “long term storage”. However, I strongly advise against leaving large amounts of crypto at any casino. Instead, keep your player account balance relatively low, and transfer big wins to your own non-custodial crypto wallet/s at the earliest opportunity.

To withdraw crypto, open your wallet and select “Withdraw”. Choose the currency and network, then enter the amount you’d like to withdraw, and paste in your wallet address. The minimum withdrawal and transaction fee will be provided. If everything looks good, tap the blue “Withdraw” tab.

CoinBets.com Tip: Always double-check crypto wallet addresses after pasting them – you don’t want to fall victim to ‘PasteJacking’. This is when hackers exploit the copy-paste function to change wallet addresses to steal funds.

Stake also supports fiat payments in selected local currencies. To use this you will have to provide additional information, including your phone number.

Buying Crypto

Like all the best crypto casinos, Stake allows you to purchase cryptocurrency on-site via third-party providers. Just open your wallet, tap “Buy Crypto”, then select the specific crypto and enter the amount (in local currency) you wish to purchase. Next, click “Buy” and you’ll be presented with the available options, for example, MoonPay and Swapped.com.

Game Selection

At the time of writing this Stake review, the platform  offered around 3,500 casino games of all types from 50 providers. And while that’s nothing to be ashamed of, it’s actually considerably fewer games and publishers than many other crypto casinos. On the whole, the Stake lobby is well organized, with useful categories including Stake Exclusives, Bonus Buy, and Enhanced RTP.

Slots

As you’d expect, the bulk of the games catalog at Stake consists of slots – around 3,350 at the time of writing. Unsurprisingly, the most popular were Pragmatic Play hits like Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Gates of Olympus Super Scatter, Hacksaw slots like Le King and Duel at Dawn, and NoLimit City titles like Duck Hunters and Brute Force Alien Onslaught.

Megaways fans are catered for – though the selection was actually more limited than expected. Specific games available include Mummy Megaways from NetEnt, Gold Megaways from Big Time Gaming, and Dragon Queen Megaways from BGaming. Unfortunately, there’s no filter for jackpot slots either, so you’ll need to search, and the biggest progressive jackpots like Mega Moolah are nowhere to be seen.

CoinBets Experience

Zombie School Megaways (Pragmatic Play)

I’m not sure if Zombie School Megaways is an official spin-off from the Korean movie Zombie School, or just capitalizing on the peninsula’s morbid fascination with all things undead. But it doesn’t really matter – all you need to know is it’s packing 117,649 payways, a jackpot worth 10,000x your bet, a decent 96.55% RTP… and it’s crammed full of zombies.

As for features, there’s Wilds and Tumbles, and landing 4-6 Scatters will trigger 10-20 free spins. Interestingly, wins in the bonus game are also subject to multipliers based on the current tumble. But, in truth, the best thing about this game is the graphics and overall theming – if you’re into zombies. If not, then you really don’t want to play it!

Unfortunately, my time at Zombie School didn’t go too well. After 50 x $1 spins, I’d only won back $34.45, giving me a real RTP of just 68.9%. Still, in keeping with a real apocalypse, this game is highly volatile, so you can’t expect most people to come out of it in one piece.

The Luxe (Hacksaw Gaming)

And now for something completely different, The Luxe from Hacksaw. It’s a minimalist yet posh slot with just 14 paylines and relatively simple features. The most important being the golden frames – which appear at random and reveal multipliers and jackpots. The free spins bonus game makes things even more interesting with its sticky mechanics.

Max win? A very respectable 20,000x your bet. Official RTP? 96.33%. Volatility? High

My actual experience? Slaughtered as if the zombies had followed me. Yep, after 50 x $1 bets, I’d only won back a derisory $17.90 – giving me a real RTP of 35.8%

Ah well, at least I felt a bit posh for a moment.

Crash & Instant Wins

Stake does have a dedicated crash games category – but refers to them as “burst games” instead. Okay, I guess it kind of makes sense, and maybe sounds a bit nicer. In it, you’ll find Stake exclusives like Drop the Boss from Mirror Image Gaming and Penguins Can Fly from Paperclip Gaming, along with popular crash games like Aviator from Spribe and Avia Masters from BGaming.

Other instant wins, like digital scratchcards, are also available at Stake, but you’ll need to use the search function to find them. For example, there’s a decent range of scratch games from Hacksaw, including Scratch! Bronze and Scratch! Gold, Frogs Scratch, and Scratch a Million.

One more thing to note – Stake recently launched in-house trading cards pack. They are pitched as digital versions of old school 1980s/90s physical cards. You know, the ones you purchased at the local shop in small packs and then traded with your friends. Apparently, the power of the cards is derived from stats like multipliers – and they give you the same thrill as opening a real pack. But, I have to say, I’m not convinced yet. But it will be interesting to see if they get traction.

Live Casino

The Stake live casino is also surprisingly small compared to many crypto casinos. Still, with 108 live dealer games from Evolution, 38 from Pragmatic Play, and 5 from Live66, there’s going to be enough for most players.

There are dedicated blackjack, roulette, and baccarat categories in the main menu – but they contain both live and RNG-based titles. Within the live casino lobby itself, the only options are to filter and sort by provider, popularity or A-Z. Hardly ideal. Still, there aren’t that many titles to browse.

Live game shows like Monopoly Live, Funky Time and Sweet Bonanza Candyland are also available – but again, there’s no filter or category.

ico-cards-card-game-poker

Table Games and Video Poker

Stake does have a “Table Games” category, but you’ll find it contains both RNG-based and live games. And when you remove the live options, the table games lineup is definitely underwhelming.

Essentially, it’s limited to a handful of Stake Originals (blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and poker), roulette from OneTouch, and a couple of first person games from Evolution.

ico-grid-3x3-gap-fill

Bingo and Keno

Searching for “bingo” and “keno” at Stake brings up virtually nothing. Just a solitary Stake Originals Keno game. Considering there were, supposedly, 1,226 people playing that lone keno game at the time of writing, I’d say Stake should add a few more options.

Provably Fair Games

In addition to provably fair games from third party providers like Spribe, Stake also has an impressive range of Stake Originals

Of course, I mean impressive in relation to the typical dozen or less you get at most crypto casinos. Yep, the Stake Originals portfolio has nearly 30 games – including all the usual suspects like Mines, Dice, Plinko, and Crash, but also some novel games like Pump, Rock Paper Scissors, and Tome of Life

CoinBets Challenge: Pumping Easy, Pumping Hard

And now, what you’ve all been waiting for – the CoinBets Challenge! And today, it’s about blowing up balloons – with air, not explosives. Yep, I’m playing Pump – one of the provably fair Stake Originals.

Specifically, I’ll be inflating 25 $1 balloons on easy mode, then trying to beat the results by inflating 25 $1 balloons on the hardest mode – yep, not “hard”, but “expert.”. And the strategy? Nothing but my gut feeling!

So, what happened?

Well, after 25 attempts to inflate balloons on easy mode, I’d managed to win back $24.63. That’s a 98.52% RTP. It seemed beatable.

But it wasn’t. After getting off to a relatively good start  with a couple of wins in the first 10 attempts, my balloon kept popping. After all 25 bets, I’d only managed to win $15.50. That’s an RTP of 62%.

Challenge failed.

But I have to admit, I like this game. And it’s super easy to verify the results too.

ico-sports-basketball

Sportsbook

As you’d expect from the world’s most popular crypto gambling site, Stake also boasts an impressive sportsbook. You’ll find standard and live sports betting on everything from soccer and tennis to horse racing and American football.
Plus, there’s esports betting on disciplines like CS2, League of Legends and Dota 2.

Promotional Offers

Stake has an extensive schedule of ongoing promotions for existing players. At the time of writing this Stake review, they included:

Stake’s Weekly Raffle – $75k prizepool split between 15 players. Automatically get 1 ticket for every $1k wagered at the Stake casino and sportsbook.

Conquer the Casino  – Win up to $3.5k for landing the biggest win on one of the selected games.

Stake vs Eddie – Beat Eddie’s weekly game multiplier to win a share of $50k.

The Level Up – Hit multiplier targets to win a share of the $40k prizepool.

Reel Rumble – Achieve 100x multipliers to win a share of $40k.

Casino Challenges – Win prizes by completing custom challenges.

Network Promotions – Compete for big prizes in provider promos like Pragmatic Play’s Slot Coin Drop.

Loyalty Program & VIP Club

The Stake VIP Club consists of 6 main tiers (the 3 higher tiers each have multiple sub-tiers). Ranking is based on amount wagered, with perks improving as you level up.

Apparently, Stake has given over $1 billion in bonuses through its loyalty program, and its “the best VIP Program online.” Hey, it says it in the FAQ, so it must be true.

Player Support

Like virtually every crypto casino, Stake offers 24/7 live chat support (though, as I’m writing this, it’s actually down for “Scheduled Maintenance”). Alternatively, you can contact the Stake support team via email at support [at] stake [dot] com

There’s also a fairly comprehensive FAQ section, and a Stake Blog packed full of news and “how to” guides. And if you really want to stay in the loop, you can hang out on the Stake Forum and get to know other players.

Finally, you can also follow and connect with Stake on social media platforms like Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube.

User Experience & Website Design

I’m going to just say it. Stake looks boring and tired. Yep. There you go.

Don’t get me wrong. Everything works well enough, and navigation is intuitive. Depositing and withdrawing is straightforward, and all the information you need is readily available. Plus, there are useful responsible gambling tools – it’s easy to set deposit and loss limits, or even self-exclude entirely.

But, there’s no denying that Stake now looks very bland. In fairness, it’s not really Stake’s fault – rather so many other crypto casinos have ripped off its look. But yeah, it definitely needs an overhaul.

As you’d expect, the world’s most popular crypto casino is available in multiple languages other than English, including:

Mobile apps

At the time of writing this Stake casino review, the Stake – Real Money Casino app was number 1 in the casino category at the App Store. However, there doesn’t seem to be a Stake mobile app available for Android devices. Still, the web based platform is optimized to run smoothly on mobile browsers, so you can still enjoy Stake on any smartphone or tablet.

Other Interesting Facts

As already mentioned, Stake is one of the world’s most recognizable brands thanks to its many high-profile sponsorships. At the time of writing, they included partnerships with:

  • Drake
  • Stake F1 team
  • UFC
  • Everton Football Club
  • Esporte Clube Juventude
  • FBC Melgar
  • Enyimba Football Club
  • Fortaleza CEIF
  • Club Deportivo Ñublense
  • Davis Cup
  • Team Vitality
  • Kun Agüero
  • Patrice Evra
  • Israel Adesanya
  • Alex Pereira
  • Valentina Shevchenko
  • Merab Dvalishvili
  • Alexandre Pantoja
  • Caio Borralho
  • Frankie Dettori

But who’s actually behind Stake? Well, it was founded by Australian billionaire entrepreneurs Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. Prior to launching Stake, the pair had already been working together at Easygo – a casino game developer they’d established in 2016.

In 2022, Craven and Tehrani, along with well-known streamer Trainwreckstv, also founded the popular livestreaming platform Kick – largely in response to Twitch clamping down on gambling content. Today, Kick is one of the most important platforms for streamers promoting platforms like Stake casino.
And, if you just can’t get enough of the Stake brand, did you know there’s a Stake merch store? Yep, Stake.world sells a range of officially branded Stake apparel.

ico-reputation-solid-white

Overall Reputation

As always, I must stress it’s super difficult to accurately gauge the reputation of crypto casinos – there are just too many fake reviews, and affiliate content can’t be trusted. Heck, that’s why we set up CoinBets. Still, out of interest, here’s how Stake was rated at some popular review platforms:

PlatformOverall RatingNotes
3.8 Great(based on 12,008 reviews)
Safety Index: B+User Feedback: Great (154 reviews)
CasinoRank: 8.8 GreatPlayer Rating: 9 (278 reviews)

So, what are we seeing here? Well, Stake has got a pretty good reputation. Everyone knows who’s running things and plenty of big names are associated with the brand, so the business is generally conducted “above board.”

However, the truth is that for most of its history, players from around the world, particularly the US, UK and Europe played at Stake without any problems. They simply used VPNs to bypass geoblocks and, by and large, Stake turned a blind eye. Reflecting how common this was, there’s even been instances of Stake telling players to do this.

But, as of mid-2025, everything has changed. Now, all Curacao-licensed casinos are required to check ID before processing a player’s first withdrawal – regardless of the amount. Obviously, unless you want to donate your crypto to Stake, using a VPN isn’t a viable option anymore. Inevitably, this means that many existing Stake players, some of whom may have been happily using the platform for years, are going to have a nasty surprise. Something that’s probably going to result in an avalanche of bad reviews.

This also explains why, according to Ahrefs, at the time of writing 48% of Stake organic traffic was coming from India – one of the few major markets still served.

Stake

Stake remains a top crypto casino with strong games and promos, but VPN bans, tired features, and no Web3 weaken appeal.

Verdict

So, what’s my final take on Stake? Well, the fact that Stake has dominated the crypto gambling space for so long, and forged lasting partnerships with so many high-profile personalities and teams shows that it’s been doing things right (relatively speaking). You just don’t get that many customers without delivering a good product and service

But, with the regulatory changes effectively ending the VPN loophole, Stake simply  isn’t a viable option for players in many markets going forward. Still, if you are lucky enough to be in an accepted location, Stake offers a decent choice of games, rewarding promotions and bonuses, excellent crypto support, and seems to be reliable enough. However, the platform is starting to look tired and lacks any tokenomics, NFTs, DeFi options, or other crypto-first features.

To sum it all up, assuming you’re in an accepted jurisdiction, Stake still offers a good all-round crypto gambling experience, though it certainly isn’t the trailblazer it once was.

But, that’s just what I think. How about you? Have you played at Stake recently? If so, why not write a CoinBets review and share your thoughts with the player community?

Thanks for reading, and until next time, stay safe, have fun, and may the RTP be with you!
