As any CoinBets regular will know, I’m rather fond of Hacksaw slots, so I thought I’d play a few spins on Rise of Ymir – a visually impressive Nordic mythical fantasy. Apparently, Ymir was an ancient giant – the first being in fact – formed from water droplets when ice from Niflheim touched heat from Muspelheim. Hmm, “Niflheim” sounds suspiciously like “Nephilim”, right? If you know, you know.
Anyways, back to the slot. It’s a 5-reel, 4-row affair with 14 paylines and a max win of 15,000x your bet. The theoretical RTP ranges from 88.23% to 96.31%, and it’s highly volatile. Features include Ymir’s Conquest – a wild multiplier that goes up to x100 – a Megamultiplier, Dawn of Gods scatters, and the Fury of War free spins bonus game. Basically, there’s quite a bit of ancient mythical action going on here!
However, despite the drama, after betting 50 USDT I only managed to win back 33.60 – making for a rather disappointing real RTP of just 67.2%. Hardly the epic adventure I was looking for, but still, a decent slot.

To try and turn my luck around, the next slot I chose was a familiar favorite: Gargantoonz from Play’n GO. If you liked Reactoonz, Reactoonz 2, or Dr Toonz, you’ll like this game.

However, despite a lot of visual action, after betting 50 USDT, I’d only managed to claw back a paltry 18.60 – giving a real RTP of just 37.20%.

CoinBets Challenge: Playing it Safe with Wheel
Our real-money gameplay results
Normally, I like to take risks with the CoinBets Challenge, but with my balance decimated by the slots, I needed to play things safe. So I opted to go with K8’s original provably fair version of Wheel. The challenge was super simple: make a profit!
So, I set up the autoplay for 50 x 0.50 USDT bets, on low risk, with 30 segments, and let her rip…
And it felt like I was on to a winner, with lots of 1.20x multipliers and a few 1.50x. But feelings can be deceiving. When all was said and done, I’d actually made a small loss, winning back just 23.40 from the 25 USDT wagered – a real RTP of 93.6%.
Not terrible, but hardly the win I was looking for.
As for the game itself, well, it’s very much your standard Wheel game – nothing bad about it, but nothing special either. The provably fair verification does go into way more detail than at most casinos, actually showing the calculations, but that’s more academic than anything – in terms of gameplay, Wheel at K8.io is “so, so.”

Unsurprisingly, K8.io looks and feels very much like virtually every other contemporary crypto casino. But it’s pleasant to look at, easy to navigate, and everything seems to work fine. As mentioned previously, the important terms and conditions are readily available, and despite some strange phrasing, everything is clear enough.
K8 casino does, however, fail miserably when it comes to responsible gambling. There’s not even a token page in the footer, let alone any safer gambling tools. Quite how this casino even has a Curacao license is a mystery – I very much suspect it won’t be renewing it, because there’s no way it would be the new, more stringent requirements post-2024. I predict it will switch to an Anjouan license soon enough.

Well, as always, I’ll preface this by saying it’s very hard to gauge a casino’s reputation these days – there are just too many fake reviews and too much affiliate spam out there. Verdict
Right, so what’s my final take on K8.io?
Well, it’s very Japanese! Whether that’s good or bad will depend on whether you like Japanese culture or not – because the visual branding, promos, and many of the games (e.g. the Victory Poker range) are obviously geared to that market.
However, I would say that despite being too complicated for my liking, the welcome bonus features very reasonable wagering requirements, and all the terms are readily accessible and clear. The game selection is decent, too, there’s support for Web3 wallets, and everything seems to work fine. Payment options are okay, and the promo lineup is about average.
K8 casino does fail miserably when it comes to responsible gambling, though. And remember, to take advantage of the deposit bonus, you’ll need to complete KYC – and being a Curacao-licensed casino, the list of prohibited jurisdictions is long and includes many major markets (like the US and UK). Additionally, this casino hasn’t embraced tokenization, and really doesn’t have any crypto-specific features beyond a few provably fair games.
